Jussie Smollett is certainly not innocent; he faked a hate crime in a mind-numbingly dumb way, paying by check for the faux assault that supposedly occurred in the dead of winter, in the middle of night, in far-left Chicago, with pro-Trump goons supposedly recognizing the black TV actor and then being fought off as he held onto his Subway order.
The whole thing was beyond absurd, something believable only to those who seem able to find a racist “dog whistle” in each and every innocuous hand gesture, statement, or piece of literature that’s not explicitly “anti-racist.”
But, of course, Jussie’s too far into his delusion to own up to having made a gross miscalculation in faking such a facially absurd hate crime and admitting that what he did was wrong. So he’s still shouting his innocence from the rooftop, acting as if we don’t have a check written by him paying the men that “assaulted” him.
In fact, the disgraced actor and recent jailbird released a new song about his innocence on Friday, a song titled, “Thank You God,” claiming in the song that the police are “hell bent on not solving the crime.” They did. He was found guilty of it. It’s ridiculous, as are the rest of the lyrics.
In the song, Smollett says “Taking out the elements of race and trans and homophobia that’s straight taking lives, but turn around and act like I’m the one that killed the strides” and also says “Some people searching for fame, some people chasing that clout, just remember this — this ain’t that situation, you think I’m stupid enough to kill my reputation. Just simply to look like a victim, like it’s something fun, y’all better look at someone else, you got the wrong one.”
The whole thing would be laughably absurd if Smollett’s seeming goal, starting a race war, or at least providing more ammunition for those who claim that blacks are terrorized and oppressed by racist Republicans, weren’t so evil.
In any case, the terrible song is just another instance of Smollett claiming his innocence despite the obvious fact that he’s not at all innocent. He also did so after his trial. When his sentence was announced, Smollett freaked out, declaring both that he’s innocent and that he’s not suicidal. Watch that here:

As you can hear, he was yelling “I am not suicidal! I am innocent!” while being escorted from the courtroom.
But, while he was sentenced to 150 days in jail, he was quickly sprung from the joint on appeal, which is why he was able to release the song about his innocence and not have to stay in prison despite obviously being guilty.
The case the prosecution proved was rock-solid. Smollett obviously faked the whole thing and despite his protestations, is in no way innocent. The courts need to stop entertaining his nonsense and just get on with punishing him for the attack, one that significantly raised racial tensions in America.
