You really know the liberal establishment has gone off the deep end when former president Barrack Obama comes out and criticizes his own party.
Obama has recently made several high profile statements about the state of the democratic party, particularly lambasting “cancel culture” and how liberal politicians are overly obsessed with Donald Trump rather than the interests of the average American.
The former president took shots at these issues in an interview with the political podcast, “Pod Save America”.
Obama gave a warning to Democrats who are focusing much of their efforts on the demonization of Trump instead of the pressing issues which Americans are facing day-to-day, such as the economy.
“We spend enormous amounts of time and energy and resources pointing out the latest crazy thing he said, or how rude or mean some of these Republican candidates behaved,” he stated, “That’s probably not something that in the minds of most voters overrides their basic interests. Can I pay the rent? What are gas prices? How am I dealing with childcare?”
This is such an accurate take on how out of touch the liberal elite are with the American people.
The economy is in a terrible position where people are faced with historically high inflation that is eating into their savings, where some might have to choose between buying groceries and filling their gas tanks.
In addition, the stock market has plummeted, crushing the retirement accounts of millions of Americans while Joe Biden continues to falsely claim the economy is strong.
Meanwhile, it seems like democrats are only focused on massive stimulus packages (which will make inflation worse) or the January 6th Committee show trials.
Regarding the January 6th Committee, polling shows these efforts have had no impact on public opinion. So why are the democrats investing so much time, energy, and money into it for no political benefit?
It’s clear their main goal is to exile Donald Trump from politics and prevent him from running again, but Americans are focused on putting food on the table right now.
This disconnect, could cost them dearly in the midterms as it is not an important voting issue.
Furthermore, Obama said Democrats can be “buzzkills” by stating, “Hell, not being a buzzkill. And sometimes Democrats are. Sometimes people just want to not feel as if they are walking on eggshells, and they want some acknowledgment that life is messy and that all of us, at any given moment, can say things the wrong way, make mistakes.”
While this is valid criticism, the word “buzzkill” is very euphemistic for what the radical left will do to you when you don’t fall in line with their woke narrative.
It’s well known that being an outspoken conservative could cost you your job or lead to social ostracism, and even as crazy as that is, it’s yesterday’s news.
Kanye West just proved to everyone that you can be “debanked” and have your bank account closed for saying things that the leftists don’t like.
PayPal announced a policy where they would remove $2,500 from your bank account if you propagated “misinformation” or said anything that could be interpreted as “intolerant” or “discriminatory”. They eventually had to walk back the misinformation aspect of the policy after much backlash from the public.
So what Obama calls a “buzzkill” actually looks more like a social credit system that could exile you from society.
Regardless, it was very surprising to see Obama make this criticism of liberal politics.
