Definition of “Fascism” Changed to Fit Liberal Freakout Following Musk’s Twitter Announcement

NOTE: The following article is satire, not a statement of fact. Treat it as such.

Elon Musk recently announced that his deal with Twitter would be going through at the agreed-upon $44 billion price tag, sending liberals into an absolute tailspin and freakout over the idea that the government and social media giant might no longer work together to censor dissidents pushing a message other than what the powers that be have deemed to be the truth.

Particularly, the berserk leftists have been claiming that Elon, in doing away with the censorship regime, has ushered in “fascism”, or at least will have done so when he takes over Twitter for good in the coming months.

One hysteric leftist journalist, for example, Ben Collins at NBC, said:

For those of you asking: Yes, I do think this site can and will change pretty dramatically if Musk gets full control over it.

No, there is no immediate replacement.

If it gets done early enough, based on the people he’s aligned with, yes, it could actually affect midterms.

If Musk is really taking this site private, there are no real guardrails anymore. Rulemaking can be capricious.

He can elevate any idea or person he wants through recommendations and UX choices and there will be no oversight on this as a private company.

We know from Musk’s private texts he talks with people who want to let Trump back on and make a “Blake Masters type” a “VP of enforcement.”

Masters is a far-right Senate candidate backed by Facebook founder and Trump donor Peter Thiel.

In those Musk texts, the redacted senders and recipients lay the groundwork for a “war” and “battle” after Musk takes over Twitter — a “coordinated pressure campaign” that will lead to deplatforming of political enemies.

What does this look like in the short term?

Abandonment of traditional moderation policies. Stuff like Pizzagate — pushed by bots and liars — will be protected. Disinfo campaigns will top trending topics and drive news cycles.

Authoritarian governments will have a field day.

In the longterm, Musk’s plans for this website are a suicide bomb.

Very few people want to use a moderation-free app saturated with lies by design. We know this from the dozens of Twitter clones who’ve tried and failed.

But he seems deadset on taking bad advice from bad people.

Well, though Collins didn’t drop the “fascism” accusation, thousands of others echoing his talking points did, notably leftist media figures and shadowy NGO heads.

As a result, Merriam-Webster took a note from the change in definition of “recession” when Team Biden didn’t want to admit there was a recession and decided to revamp the definition of “fascism” so that those leftists making the claim wouldn’t be fact-checked.

Thus, fascism was changed from meaning “a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition” to meaning “when people take action that directly or indirectly benefits those who would reject current progressive policies.”

That led to GOP politicos unhelpfully calling the definition change fascism, which was rebutted using the new definition. No action has been taken by the GOP to fight back other than Lindsey Graham pledging to write a strongly worded letter.
