Too Bad: MTG’s Husband Files For Divorce After 27 Years Of Marriage

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the firebrand Georgia Republican who is up for reelection in the state’s 14th district, will soon be finalizing a divorce with her husband, Perry, after twenty-seven years of marriage. He filed for divorce citing that the marriage is “irretrievably broken.” They share three adult children through the marriage.

The documents filed in the Floyd County Superior Court reveal that the two had been previously separated and continue to be separated.

Following the filing and publication of this event, Representative Greene released the following statement to Fox News Digital:

“Marriage is a wonderful thing and I’m a firm believer in it. Our society is formed by a husband and wife creating a family to nurture and protect. Together, Perry and I formed our family and raised three great kids. He gave me the best job title you can ever earn: Mom. I’ll always be grateful for how great of a dad he is to our children. This is a private and personal matter and I ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.”

For his part, husband Perry also had a statement released, likewise issued by his estranged wife’s congressional team:

“Marjorie has been my best friend for the last 29 years and she has been an amazing mom! Our family is our most important thing we have done. As we go on different paths we will continue to focus on our 3 incredible kids and their future endeavors and our friendship.”

Despite Greene’s fiery anti-leftist rhetoric and the presumable turmoil felt by both parties, what is not surprising is that conservatives are acting like actual adults. Whatever problems faced in their marriage, they are conducting themselves amicably and maturely. Not all marriages end well, but the public focus on good will and relationship with their shared children is a welcome respite from the left’s childish behavior in nearly every matter.

It’s all a far cry from the obnoxious – and Ghislaine Maxwell trial cover – episode featuring Hollywood losers Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, whose quite public affair was featured daily in most media outlets. That trial included bizarre stories of physical and emotional abuse and two very narcissistic personalities. The world did not need to know those details, and yet we were forced to learn about the inner workings of a failed celebrity marriage.

As was indicated by Greene, she is asking that the private family matters remain just that, private, which makes perfect sense. Even public figures deserve privacy to handle matters not associated with their job.

The estranged pair also requested that the divorce proceedings occur without public scrutiny, as mentioned in a petition to the court. Fox News wrote:

A petition was also filed to seal the proceeding, citing “confidential and sensitive information,” FOX 5 reported. The petition argues the “the parties’ significant privacy interest in sealing the records outweighs the public’s minuscule interest in access to said records.”
