Meghan and Harry’s bodyguard nearly strangled wife to death, she later took her own life

In a recent photo of Prince Harry and Meghan, a bodyguard can be seen with them, who is a former police officer who was once convicted of nearly strangling his wife to death, it has been revealed. The 51-year-old Pere Daobry was photographed driving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from Frogmore Cottage in Windsor to London’s Euston station.

Daobry was convicted of beating up his wife in 2016 after she allegedly claimed she didn’t love him anymore. “When you consider how outspoken Meghan is on women’s issues it’s quite amazing that a bodyguard with that sort of background has been employed,” a source said. Meghan and Harry likely wouldn’t have employed him if they knew the full story of his past, the source also said.

The bodyguard called emergency services at the time of the assault and confessed to the crime. He reportedly said to the emergency services operator: “I want to report an assault and I am the perpetrator. I have assaulted my wife.”

From the attack, Daobry’s wife Sarah Jay had scratches on her neck and back and swelling on her forehead. But later, Daobry denied he assaulted her, however, was found guilty after a trial, according to a report. He claimed that he wanted to stop his wife from overdosing on prescribed tablets, so he was using a police-approved choke hold, said News Hub.

A 12-week suspended prison sentence was handed to the offender, with 200 hours of community service and a year-long restraining order. Before he attacked his wife, the former police officer and later bodyguard was married to Jay for two years. Sadly, in 2019, Jay took her own life.

Maybe the best fit for the Prince’s bodyguard is an aggressive strong man, but surely there were some better options than an alleged woman choker.
