Democratic Georgia Gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams has found her way back into the news after a judge threw away her lawsuit against the state of Georgia for its election procedures.
Abrams, who lost the election for the same position in 2018 to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, has still not admitted that she lost in a fair and honest election.
After losing the election, Abrams created Fair Fight Action, a group that has the following to say about the integrity of the US elections.
“Georgia and the country are facing the worst attacks on voting rights since reconstruction,” the front page of the group’s website says.
The page also says that officials are “targeting black, brown, young and other voters, and threatening their ability to have their voices heard.”
According to the associated press, Abram’s lawsuit has been thrown out of court after more than a year.
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, a Republican, had this to say about the case and about Abrams.
“This is existential to who Stacey Abrams has become as a public and political figure,” he said.
“She put herself in the political spotlight nationally, potentially globally, all over the narrative that she lost the governor’s race because of voter suppression. And here you have a federal judge saying, it’s all untrue. It didn’t happen.”
According to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, elections have been fair in Georgia for his entire stint in office. This includes the 2018 gubernatorial election and the 2020 presidential election.
“Stolen election and voter suppression claims by Stacey Abrams were nothing but poll-tested rhetoric not supported by fact and evidence,” Raffensperger stated on Friday.
The left has obviously condemned the other side when claims are made about unfair elections, and Stacey Abrams has been no different.
She has continually bashed republicans who question the outcome of the 2020 election, but Abrams claims that her claims are completely unlike those of Donald Trump.
“I will never ever say that it is okay to claim fraudulent outcomes as a way to give yourself power,” she said, attempting to contrast her claims against those from 2020. “That is wrong. I reject it and will never engage in it. But I do believe that it is imperative, especially those who have the platform and the microphone, to talk about the access.”
Although she did not win the case, Abrams is adamant that she still took small victories from the courtroom when it was all said and done.
“As the judge says in the first sentence, ‘this is a voting rights case that resulted in wins and losses for all parties,’” said Abrams.
“However, the battle for voter empowerment over voter suppression persists, and the cause of voter access endures. I will not stop fighting to ensure every vote can be cast, every ballot is counted and every voice is heard,” Stacey Abrams promised.
As election season draws nearer, this story will be worth keeping an eye on. It will be very interesting to see if Abrams continues her rhetoric as voters make their way to the polls.
