Drained But Now We Might Need It: GOP Rep. Explains the Huge Problem with Biden’s SPR Releases

The disaster that is, has been, and will be the Biden administration continues to hurt regular Americans, this time with a huge impact being felt across large parts of the state of Florida in the wake of Hurricane Ian’s devastating effects.

As millions go without power – though thanks to the mobilization of human resources by Governor Ron DeSantis those numbers keep dropping quickly – one of the biggest needs is gas to power emergency vehicles, generators, and the automobiles of tens of millions of Floridians trying to relocate, support the clean up and rebuilding process, or help loved ones and neighbors.

Speaking to Fox Business Network’s Kennedy, one Republican Congressman is calling out Joe Biden and his reckless use of the Strategic Reserves to lower gas prices after his climate policies gouged them in the first place. He stated we find ourselves when the exact need for the reserve supplies is limited because many resources have already been drained.

Breitbart covered the exchange:

Host Jackie DeAngelis asked, [relevant remarks begin around 1:35] “Obviously, supplies are going to be needed in Florida. This is the kind of thing that we keep the SPR for, emergencies within the country that are as a result of a natural disaster. If the situation worsens in Georgia, in the Carolinas, and all of a sudden, we find ourselves needing more supplies than anticipated when the administration and the President [have] allocated those supplies, essentially, to just bring the price of gas down as a result of high inflation, your thoughts on where we stand, as a country, going into this.”

Carter responded, “Well, that’s a great point. And that’s what the reserves are for, for emergency situations, not to bring down the price of gas so that you can bring down inflation, which is what the Biden administration has used it for. Now, we find ourselves in a situation where perhaps we are going to need it.”

Host DeAngelis correctly observed in her immediate remarks that it isn’t just the millions of Floridians in desperate need of emergency resources, but potentially millions more across other impacted or soon-to-be impacted states like Georgia and the Carolinas.

Previously, former president Donald Trump had accused Biden of allocating the Strategic Reserve’s petroleum in order to combat record-high prices at the pump ahead of midterm elections.

It’s going to be much higher as soon as the elections are over. They are artificially – I filled up the strategic reserves when oil was cheap. I bought  75 million barrels at a very, very cheap price. Filled it all up, right to the top; first time in fifty years it was filled.

They’re giving it to people to keep the oil prices down before the election. When the election is over, gasoline prices are going through the roof. And so will your heating bills, your electric bills. Think about it.

How bad is the situation for Biden? Even his former press secretary Jen Psaki admitted that the midterms, if they were a referendum on Biden himself, would be a disaster for Democrats at the polls.

This is a woman who adroitly, albeit dishonestly, defended Slow Joe on a daily basis. Her departure must have at least been in part due to the rampant destruction of America and her recognition of the sinking ship. She is now able to watch Karine Jean-Pierre look foolish in the press room while comfortably attacking her former boss from a cushy network gig.
