Arizona has a cast of real conservatives fighting to get elected this year. Running for the Senate seat against incumbent Mark Kelly is Trump-backed Blake Masters, one of the “New Right” types who wants to advance a pro-family, America First agenda when he defeats Kelly and makes it to the Senate. And, running for the governor’s mansion is Kari Lake, another Trump-backed candidate with strong, America First views.
So, of course, Lake has come under attack from both the left and the more liberal members of the GOP.
Among those critics of Kari Lake is Liz Cheney, the Congresswoman from Wyoming who was just defeated in Wyoming’s primary race by Trump-backed Harriet Hageman.
Cheney, speaking on the matter recently, pledged to oppose Trump, Youngkin, and Lake.
Speaking about Trump, Cheney said: “I’m going to make sure Donald Trump … make sure he’s not the nominee, and if he is the nominee, I won’t be a Republican.”
Hitting at Youngkin and Kari Lake, Liz said: “He’s [Younkin] demonstrated that he’s somebody who has not bought into the toxin of Donald Trump — but he campaigned recently for Kari Lake, who’s an election denier, who is dangerous. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that Kari Lake is not elected.”
Well, Kari Lake didn’t care a whit. In fact, she fired back by calling Liz Cheney’s attacks a “gift,” saying:
“That might be the biggest, best gift I have ever received. The Republican Party, the new Republican Party, is the party of we, the people. It is no longer the party of warmongers.
“Liz Cheney probably should change her voter registration. Turns out she really is a Democrat after all.”

Cheney has even gone so far as to adopt the “our democracy” line the left loves, conflating the terms “democracy” and “republic” while also claiming. Speaking on that topic in the same speech in which she pledged to fight Trump, Youngkin, and Lake, Cheney said:
“In this election you have to vote for the person who actually believes in democracy. If we elect election deniers, if we elect people who said that they’re not going to certify results or who are going to try to steal elections, then we really are putting the republic at risk.”

Meanwhile, as Liz Cheney attacks Trump, Trump has remained committed to helping the US stay out of wars pushed by the Liz Cheney warmonger types, most recently by offering to head a peace commission to try and draw the Ukraine situation to a close before further escalation leads to a world-destroying nuclear war. Posting about that on Truth Social, he said:
U.S. “Leadership” should remain “cool, calm, and dry” on the SABOTAGE of the Nord Stream Pipelines. This is a big event that should not entail a big solution, at least not yet. The Russia/Ukraine catastrophe should NEVER have happened, and would definitely not have happened if I were President. Do not make matters worse with the pipeline blowup. Be strategic, be smart (brilliant!), get a negotiated deal done NOW. Both sides need and want it. The entire World is at stake. I will head up group???
