When Kanye does an interview, you know the bizarre billionaire is going to come out with some out-there stuff, but this time the conservative rapper may have outdone himself! In a sit-down interview with ABC News on Thursday night, Kanye spoke about how his father bravely fought stomach cancer in 2018 which prompted him to vow to prevent others from developing tumors by promoting “fresh air and food”.
After his dad was given the all-clear later that year, Kanye posted a very strange message on his Instagram page. Under a photograph of insects he wrote, “My dad and I are going to eat this plate of bugs to celebrate him beating cancer. No more fear.”
He also said that he may pursue a political career in the future, but his chances had been stunted for now because God had made him “fall on my sword”, “You know, that time wasn’t in God’s time. I’m sure there are lives that were saved,” he said when asked about his short presidential campaign in 2020. “I’m sure God had me fall on the sword and say this is not the time. But he’s a redeemer. He’s given me this oxygen, he’s given me this platform, he’s put amazing people around me. He’s given me new purposes. A new lease on life. New air to breathe. And a new respect.”
When ABC host, Linsey Davis asked how the rapper would “change the world more”, Kanye replied that simple lifestyle changes like diet and environmental aspects can have a major impact on health. “Fresh air. Fresh food. Fresh food cures cancer,” he told Davis. “I don’t want to say that because The New York Times will take that and say ‘he’s going to cure cancer’ – but true enough. Your food, your diet, is the most important thing. You are what you eat. You are what you consume, not just eating, but what you consume in any way – the people you are around, sunlight, music, the arts, what you listen to. So we’re going to change everything.”
Last month, Kanye engaged in an open spat with his ex, Kim Kardashian who is the mother to his four children, North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. The couple divorced in 2021.
The Gold Digger rapper accused Kim of dictating where his children went to school. In the series of posts, Kanye claimed the elite Los Angeles school the children attend is pushing woke propaganda and that he would prefer them to swap to his newly opened, Christian establishment, Donda Academy. “I have a voice, and I don’t agree with certain things, as a dad and as a Christian,” he said. “I have a right to have a voice on what my kids are wearing, what they are watching, what they are eating.”
Kanye, who suffers from bipolar disorder told ABC that he feels social media can be harmful depending on how it’s used. “That’s one of my favorite questions of this interview,” he said as he was asked for his thoughts about whether social media is harmful or helpful. “We can use a car to rush somebody to the hospital. Or we could use a car and accidentally hit somebody while we’re rushing somebody to the hospital. It’s all about how we use it.”
