OOF: McDonald’s CEO Warns Chiraq Is Becoming TOO DANGEROUS, Businesses Will Keep Fleeing

Woke criminal reform has left Democrat-run cities in utter shambles. Just as Starbucks has announced store closures throughout the nation in some of the most failed Democrat experiments, now McDonald’s is announcing skyrocketing crime and safety concerns are leaving them little choice but to evacuate.

ZeroHedge writes:

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski says exploding crime has made his employees feel unsafe to go to work and has made it impossible to hire new talent for the company’s Chicago offices.  The Illinois city has seen over 494 homicides so far in 2022, which is at least 100 more deaths that it saw in the first 8 months of 2019.  Burglary is up at least 36% and theft overall is up 70% from a year ago.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is likely a large part of the problem. A notorious proponent of social justice ideology, Lightfoot vowed to crack down on anti-covid lockdown protesters but refused to do the same with BLM looting and rioting.  Under her leadership Chicago has spiraled out of control.  Lightfoot recently lauded a minor drop in homicides this year while ignoring the fact that deaths skyrocketed in 2020 and 2021, making the recent small decline far less meaningful.

Kempczinski put it bluntly:

“The truth is, it’s more difficult today for me to convince a promising McDonald’s executive to relocate to Chicago from one of our other offices than it was just a few years ago.”

This is about as bad an indictment on Lori Lightfoot, J.B. Pritzker, and every other left-wing lunatic as could be. That, and the fact that CHicago is a perennial leader on the list of most dangerous and murderous cities in America. These fools simply can’t do anything right.

In addition to losing McDonald’s operations, Chicago has already lost headquarters for major corporations like Citadel, Caterpillar, and Boening, to say nothing of the fact that the NFL’s legacy franchise Chicago Bears refused Mayor Lightfoot’s $2 billion offer to upgrade and modernize Soldier Field in downtown Chicago. Instead, theft recently bought a large parcel of property and the common assumption is that they will leave town as soon as legally possible.

According to Daily Caller, the Bears are well positioned to leave and have every good reason to:

The Bears purchased a $197.2 million, 326-acre property in Arlington Park from Churchill Downs Inc. in September 2021, according to a statement on the team’s website. The new stadium is 30 miles northwest of Soldier Field.

The Bears are not the only asset to ditch Chicago. Hundreds of thousands of Illinois residents and businesses have left Chicago due to the current state of the city.

Illinois’ population declined by 113,776 from July 1, 2020, through July 1, 2021, according to an Illinois policy report. Although people are fleeing Illinois from all around the state, the City of Chicago lost a total of 45,175 residents from July 2020-July 2021, the third-highest of any city in America….

The overwhelming emigration out of Chicago comes amidst the city’s surge in violent crime and pro-criminal policies.
