Piers Morgan Sounds Off, Says Many Brits Find Megan Markle Attending Queen’s Funeral “Hard To Stomach”

Piers Morgan, the liberal British broadcaster who used to work in American media, had a good bit to say about the Queen’s funeral recently.

Specifically, Morgan thrashed the woman who was briefly the Duchess of Sussex for attending, saying that her being there for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral despite having taken away Harry from the family was sickening to many Brits. Specifically, he said that it was “hard [for many Brits] to stomach” thanks to her attitude toward the Crown and more recent remarks calling the royal family out as racists.

The American Tribune, reporting on the matter and what Morgan had to say about Megan Markle’s presence at the funeral and ripped those false claims about Queen Elizabeth II being “racist”, said:

Morgan’s remarks came during an appearance on Fox News, in which he also emphasized how preposterous the racist accusations were. The Queen was reported to be “privately devastated” by the shocking assertion.

“Of course they’re not a racist family,” he said. “And I think Meghan Markle, by saying that, endorsed by Prince Harry, managed to smear the entire royal family and I find it quite hard to forgive that given she did that right after Prince Phillip was taken into hospital, knowing that none of them were able to respond, because they don’t respond to this kind of thing.”

He went on to add: “And the last two years of the queen’s life was constantly having to deal with these two going public, attacking the royal family and the monarchy, which of course is the very institution which she headed and affords them the ability to make all this money.”

“When I see them, particularly Meghan Markle, at all these events this week, I think a lot of British people find it very hard to stomach because they think, ‘Well, you made the queen’s life so difficult the last two years of her life,’” Morgan continued.

The Daily Caller reported on the matter as well. It emphasized that Piers Morgan and Megan Markle have a long history of disagreeing and not getting along, saying:

Morgan has been a harsh critic of Meghan since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. He accused the duchess of Sussex of lying about being suicidal and called the interview “disgraceful.”

“This interview is an absolutely disgraceful betrayal of the Queen and the Royal Family,” Morgan wrote on Twitter at the time. “I expect all this vile destructive self-serving nonsense from Meghan Markle – but for Harry to let her take down his family and the Monarchy like this is shameful.”

A few days after the interview, Morgan stormed off of a “Good Morning Britain” set mid-show when co-presenter Alex Beresford criticized his remarks about Markle.

Markle, for her part, defended her presence at the Queen’s funeral. Speaking on the matter, she said:

Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he suffered, but I knew that if I didn’t say it, then I would do it. I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”
