WATCH: Biden Greeted by Chants of “FJB” in the UK

How loved is President Joe Biden internationally? So loved that, when he visited Great Britain for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the crowd greeted him with the “f*** Joe Biden” chant that has become ubiquitous in the United States.

Justo cut to the chase, here’s the hilarious video of that:

And that wasn’t the only humiliating moment for Biden at the funeral. In addition to the FJB chants that greeted the President and “Dr.” Jill, as they drove in “The Beast,” the massive presidential limo, the Bidens, were also seated 14 rows back during the ceremony and, because they arrived late, had to wait outside the chapel as the ceremony went forward.

The Guardian, a British news source, reported on those happenings at the funeral, saying:

Rather than being ushered immediately to their seats on their arrival at Westminster Abbey, the first couple, aged 79 and 71, had to be gently told they would need to stand and wait as a procession of George and Victoria Cross-holders went ahead of them down the nave of the abbey.

After an awkward period of small talk at the main entrance, as those awarded the highest decorations of military valour went ahead, the Bidens finally followed in the wake of Victoria Cross-holder CSgt Johnson Beharry, pushing the wheelchair of Keith Payne VC, 89.

[…]Perhaps as a consequence of opting out of the buses taking other leaders from the assembly point at Royal Hospital Chelsea, the Bidens were also given seats 14 rows back in the south transept of the abbey.

The awkwardness happened because the Bidens did not take a bus with other leaders to the funeral, which would have ensured they arrived with everyone else and didn’t need to awkwardly wait outside and then follow behind the Victoria Cross procession. Instead, they arrived in The Beast, to the derision of the “FJB” chanting crowd. Maybe there’s an ice cream maker in the Beast (that’s a joke, fact-checkers).

This isn’t the first time that FJB chants have broken out abroad. Back in October of 2021, protesters in Italy marched through the streets chanting “f*** Joe Biden”, as you can watch here:

Unfortunately, Slow Joe wasn’t there to see that, which would have made it even funnier.

In any case, the President Biden arriving late to the funeral wasn’t the only bit of awkwardness at the event. There was also controversy over the invitation of Spain’s former king and the seating of him next to the son that deposed him and stripped him of his royal stipend, as the Guardian also reported, saying:

While the decision of Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to not attend avoided some damaging headlines, a decision to invite Spain’s disgraced former King Juan Carlos and to then seat him next to his son King Felipe VI and his wife, Queen Letizia, appears likely to make things difficult for the Spanish royal family back home.

Felipe, 54, came to the throne when his father abdicated in 2014 amid dwindling popularity. The 84-year-old, who appeared frail and had to lean on an aide, spends most of his time in self-imposed exile in Abu Dhabi following a series of scandals related to his finances that culminated in Felipe stripping him of his annual stipend and renouncing his personal inheritance.

A frail, unpopular old man? Sounds like he and Biden would have gotten along famously had Biden arrived on time and had time to chat.
