Bizarre! Missing Washington teen found, then arrested

Those of us with children know the stress level we live with daily because of our kids. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to have to receive a phone call with bad news regarding your child. For the grace of God most of us never have to answer that call.

It’s a scary world out there in 2022 America. Violent crime is on the rise, drugs are flowing unabated through our southern border, and it seems like we see more tragic stories about shooting, robberies and the like every day.

Recently a Washington State family had to answer that call as their 16 year old son seemingly disappeared on the way to football practice. All that was found were his car, cell phone and blood on the scene. An absolutely terrifying scenario for any parent.

Ever hear the expression “from bad to worse”? The rest of this story is a prime example. Check this out from Outkick:

Gabriel Davies went missing on his way to high school football practice in Washington state setting off a two-day search around his hometown of Olympia, Wash. He was eventually found safe, only to be arrested for murder moments later.

Imagine the roller coaster of emotions for Davies family. Missing for two days, presumed to be the victim of violent crime, to being found alive and then arrested. Actually don’t imagine that roller coaster. No family should have to go through that. The story only gets stranger.

The 16-year-old football player’s car was found empty in his family’s driveway. Sheriffs in Thurston County reportedly took a look inside and found blood and his cell phone shattered on the ground. After he was found, sheriffs in Pierce County arrested him on suspicion of second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

There is so much not known about what exactly is going on here, as this is still a developing case, but what could have led to a young man who is supposed to be at football practice to disappear then suddenly being suspected of a crime? Revenge maybe?

Pierce County sheriffs conducted a welfare check in Ortig, a town 40 miles outside of Olympia, where they found a 51-year-old man dead inside his home. While the sheriff’s announcement over the weekend did not name Davies by name, the details matched the arrest records of the teenager.

“The man had a gunshot wound, but no firearm was nearby.

Authorities suspect Davies was there because the 51 year old man used to date his mother. If Davies went their with the intention of killing the man, the punishment will be harsh. Unfortunately not much is known about why he was there, but I doubt it was a social call.

This is the type of story we used to see on dateline NBC, and I don’t recall any of those having a happy ending. The relief the family must have felt, followed by the shock and horror of seeing the boy hauled off in cuffs facing a murder charge is unimaginable.

A GoFundMe was set up for Davies legal expenses but quickly taken doen by GoFundMe for terms of service violations.

There will be more details come to light, and certainly more to the story than what we already know. However if Gabriel Davies went with the express purpose of killing his mother’s ex boyfriend, it’s only going to get worse.  But for now Gabriel Davies sits in a cell facing a bizarre murder charge.
