Biden may have accidentally mixed up PA candidates with ‘Big Ol’ Boy’ comment: report

Pennsylvania Democrats John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro were possibly mixed up by President Joe Biden during a rally in which he urged attendees to vote for both candidates. Biden said to the crowd at Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania: “Folks, do me a favor. Presumptuous of me to say that, but think about doing me a favor…. Please, please elect the Attorney General to the Senate. Elect that big ol’ boy to be governor,” Biden said.

Although Shapiro, the state attorney general, and Fetterman, the lieutenant governor, were intended to be endorsed by Biden for governor and senator respectively, he appeared to mix up the two candidates running for offices. If elected, Fetterman would become the tallest senator and second-tallest congressman in U.S. history, as he is 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 270 pounds as recently as 2018 as reported on Daily Caller. It seems like the “big ol’ boy” comment would be meant for Fetterman at 6 feet 9 inches, not anyone else.

Meanwhile, Luther Strange is currently the tallest U.S. Senator in history and was among the tallest members of Congress. While Tom McMillen is thought to be the tallest-ever member of Congress. At 6 feet 11 inches, he is two feet taller than Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski, who is believed to be the shortest representative ever.

In the RealClearPolitics average, Shapiro leads state Sen. Doug Mastriano by six points, while Fetterman leads Dr. Mehmet Oz by eight. Fetterman became the latest swing-state Democratic nominee to avoid appearing with Biden, although Shapiro did attend the rally. Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Georgia gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams, and Ohio Senate nominee Tim Ryan have all prominently snubbed Biden.

While repeating several falsehoods about the Second Amendment, Biden renewed his call for an “assault weapons” ban during the speech, ostensibly about gun control and violent crime. Also, he claimed that Americans do not need semi-automatic rifles, and would require F-15 fighter jets to successfully combat the military in a rebellion.

“And for those brave right wing Americans who say it’s all about keeping Americans independent and safe, if you want to fight against the country you need an F-15. You need something a little more than a gun,” said the president.
