Airport Bag Handler Dies After Getting Caught in Conveyor Belt

According to the authorities, a baggage handler at a New Orleans airport passed away on Tuesday night after her hair became entangled in a belt loader. The incident took place at the airport.

On August 30, Jermani Thompson, who was 26 years old at the time, was working at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport when the bizarre event occurred. She held a position with GAT Airline Ground Support as an employee.

While unloading bags off a Frontier Airlines aircraft on the tarmac at approximately 10:00 p.m., Thompson’s hair became entangled in a belt loader and was pulled in multiple directions.

She was confirmed dead upon arrival at the nearby hospital where she was transported to. Because of the terrible catastrophe, Frontier Airlines decided to cancel one of their flights on Wednesday.

Jermani Thompson tragically lost her life as a result of injuries sustained at work when her hair became entangled on a conveyor belt.

Her untimely passing prompted many involved in aviation to express their most profound sorrow in the form of a heartfelt outpouring.

Kevin Dolliole, the Director of Aviation for the airport, expressed to Fox News Digital that the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport offers its heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, as well as to our partners at GAT and Frontier Airlines. He said that the airport was “devastated” by the news.

Dolliole continued by saying that Jermani was a member of their Airport family and that at this difficult time, they will keep supporting one another in whatever ways they are able to.

A spokesperson for Frontier Airlines issued the following statement in the aftermath of the unfortunate accident: “We extend our deepest condolences following the tragic death of a member of our ground handling business partner.” “Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Family and acquaintances of Thompson recalled her as being a dedicated worker who also had a strong passion for basketball. She participated in athletics while attending both Heston College and Tougaloo College, where she was a student.

Angela Corsey, Thompson’s mother, said in an interview with FOX 8 New Orleans that her daughter was an expert on the game of basketball and that she would do anything that was asked of her. “I just can’t believe it, you know, my only daughter is gone.

In a statement, Frontier Airlines expressed “their heartfelt condolences” for the loss of life caused by the unfortunate accident.

I don’t believe it. It’s like, she just told me, ‘I’ll see you when I come back,‘” Dorsey added.
