Watch: This Veteran Put the King in Burger King After All His Hard Work Is Finally Paid Off

Occasionally a story goes along that shows how much goodness there really is on the planet.

On June 20, the subreddit r/ABoringDystopia posted a video of a Burger King worker named Kevin Ford, 54, who says he got a gift from the executives following 27 years at work. In the video, which was initially posted on his Instagram on May 25, Ford digs into the things he got from HMSHost, the organization from which Burger King employs, which incorporated a Starbucks reusable tumbler, a sack of Reese’s sweets, pens, and two rolls of Lifesavers, among different things.

Moreover, chiefs at the Las Vegas Burger King where Ford works provided him with a cut of chocolate cake to commend the achievement. While Ford stayed thankful in the video, offering his thanks, the reaction online was a touch more basic.

“Did they really only give him ONE movie ticket tho??” one individual composed on the TikTok variant of the video.

“And he’s so humble and kind about it. This pisses me off so much. He deserves so much more,” someone else commented on the Reddit post.

A large number of different reactions from analysts brought up that Ford’s gift reality didn’t exactly coordinate with assumptions, which might be the reason Ford’s little girl chose to step in to respect her dad’s devotion to his fast food work.

“My name is Seryna. The man in that video is my father. He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes he has never missed a day of work,” Seryna Ford wrote in a GoFundMe she set up for her dad. “He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago. Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continue to work here because of the amazing health insurance That was provided through this employer because it was unionized. Which got all four of his daughters through high school and college with full healthcare coverage.”

Many people all over the web were in shock and disgusted at the gifts Burger King gave to the loyal employee, feeling as if receiving so little after being such a positive influence in the place of business was offending.

“My father keeps on working here, on the grounds that however he looks youthful, he is coming up on retirement age, and leaving would cost him his retirement. Not the slightest bit are we requesting cash or is he anticipating any cash yet assuming that anybody wants to favor him he couldn’t want anything more than to visit his grandkids,” Seryna concluded in the GoFundMe.

Individuals around the web heard her and were moved by Ford’s story and the reaction to her genuine solicitation surpassed whatever the Ford family might have longed for, having its objective broken two times — and is still climbing. In a little more than seven days, the GoFundMe has gotten more than $250,000.

As things circled back around and Burger King heard about the now viral cause, they’ve come out with a statement saying:

“The Burger King brand and its many franchisees nationwide are committed to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the thousands of people serving across a wide range of roles. Following a review with this location’s franchisee, we’ve learned that this video depicts a Team Member in receipt of a peer-to-peer reward in recognition of short-term positive performance and experience.”

Burger King was also sure to try and keep its hands clean of the bad publicity by saying HMSHost, the food service organization Ford works for Burger King through, is the party responsible for the viral gift.

At this point, I’m sure Mr. Ford doesn’t care since the community all around the web has made sure to send him off – and send him off well they did.
