Tim Allen, who voiced Buzz Lightyear in the original Toy Story movies had blasted Disney’s controversial new flick Lightyear after it flopped in its opening weekend.
Allen, 69, who voiced Buzz in all four original Toy Story movies from their beginning in 1996, was axed as the character in Disney’s new spin-off Lightyear and replaced by Chris Evans.
The Home Improvements star said he liked the story but felt the content had no continuity or relevance with the previous in the franchise and felt his replacement was down to a “new team”.
“It’s a wonderful story, it just doesn’t seem to have any connection to the toy,” he told Extra on Wednesday.
“It has no relationship to Buzz.’
“We talked about this many years ago…but the brass that did the first four movies is not this. It’s a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies.
“I’ve stayed out of this.”

Allen voiced the character in the original Disney-Pixar movie Toy Story, released in 1995 alongside Hollywood megastar, Tom Hanks as the voice of Woody the cowboy. The movie, which was the first-ever feature-length animation made entirely with CGI, was a roaring success, raking in $373 million at the box office.
The pair went on to star in 3 more subsequent Toy Story movies and numerous spin-off shows and shorts, including Toy Story 4 in 2019 which, having earned over $1 billion worldwide, became Pixar’s second highest-grossing movie of all time behind Incredibles 2.
But Disney-Pixar suddenly and unexpectantly canceled Allen from voicing the toy spaceman, seemingly because he openly expressed his support of the Republican Party and conservative politics.
Undoubtedly much to super-woke Disney’s dismay, the star said he “liked that Donald Trump pissed people off” and said that he would consider himself “politically, kind of an anarchist”.
In 2017, Jimmy Kimmel asked Allen if he had attended Trump’s inauguration, to which he responded that “you get beat up if you don’t believe what everybody believes”.
He went on to say that as a comedian he likes to switch his comedy from side to side, and said he felt that individuals are attacked as they would have been in Nazi Germany if they voice opinions that are against the grain:
“This is like Thirties Germany. I don’t know what happened,” he said on Kimmel.
“If you’re not part of the group, ”You know what we believe is right”, I go, ”Well, I might have a problem with that”. I’m a comedian, I like going on both sides.
“I literally don’t preach anything. What I’ve done is I’ve just not joined into, as I call it, the ”we culture”. I’m not telling anybody else how to live. I don’t like that.”
The Christmas with the Kranks actor also criticized Hollywood for what he called its “hypocritical” demonizing of Donald Trump:
“What I find odd in Hollywood is that they didn’t like Trump because he was a bully,” he told Fox.
“But if you had any kind of inkling that you were for Trump, you got bullied for doing that. And that’s where this gets a little hypocritical to me.”
I think we’ve solved the mystery as to why radically left-wing Disney-Pixar had a sudden change of heart about working with Tim Allen! Oh, and let’s not forget Lightyear’s very politically motivated lesbian kiss… But it seems, judging by the ticket sales, woke doesn’t sell all that well after all.
