One of the more irritating aspects of modern life in America is the utter inescapability from major pop culture news. Whether or not we’re interested in the latest shenanigans from Hollywood, we’re going to get pummeled with details anyway. With the recently concluded Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial, for instance, the only way to avoid such bombardment would have been to take up a lifestyle similar to that of Ted Kaczynski. Now that the trial is over, we can mercifully move on with our lives. However, we would be remiss if we didn’t take at least a moment to recognize the complete stupidity that just oozed from the post-trial public statement from Amber Heard.
Winner: Amber Heard loses her battle against Johnny Depp, and then laments, “what this verdict means for women.”
For those of us who did our best to ignore the trial, some of the more sordid particulars about the trial seemed to force their way into our consciousness. As a result, married couples across the country were scratching their heads and wondering whether their own spouse would ever resort to pooping on the bed as a form of retaliation. Some of us have even had nightmares about the idea.
But we also became aware, thanks to the scores of trial tidbits that trickled our way, that while Depp and Heard may have more money, fame, and good looks than most of us, they also appear to lead miserable lives. What we saw and what we heard may be described by a lot of words, but “happiness” isn’t one of them.
We also learned something from the trial that most of us already knew: In marital disputes, it always takes two to tango, and no one is ever lily-white. Amber Heard’s behavior was clearly more outrageous and provoking than that of Depp, based on the facts we’ve heard, but Depp wasn’t exactly a model husband either.
According to testimony, in addition to her excrement escapade, Heard also had physically struck Depp, had issued multiple threats of violence toward the actor and was downright vindictive. Depp, for his part, had sent some disturbing texts to friends about his ex-wife, clearly showed a tendency to fly off the handle, and was an all-around lousy husband.
Yet while it seems clear that neither Depp nor Heard was innocent during their marriage, it was Heard who appears to have been the physical aggressor, not Depp. While Amber Heard pled her case to convince the jury otherwise, it’s clear that Ms. Heard was not a victim. And that’s what Heard desperately wanted to accomplish; she wanted to be perceived as a victim, because in our society, being a victim means power, it means money, and it means credibility.
But Amber Heard failed in her goal. She wasn’t a victim of Johnny Depp, and if anyone was a victim in the relationship, it appears to have been Depp. Nonetheless, that didn’t stop Heard. In a written statement released shortly after the verdict was announced, Heard had this to say:
“I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.
I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken to seriously.”
Heard’s behavior is very much like that of Jussie Smollett. Deny, deny, deny. Stick to the script regardless of reality. Just keep doubling down.
But as is almost always the case, reality isn’t going anywhere. Amber Heard, like Smollett, was exposed as a fraud and was the victimizer, not the victim. There was no “mountain of evidence,” Amber, that’s why you lost. Yes, you were humiliated and shamed, but that was due to your own actions. And the only one set back by you losing this trial is you, and maybe your lawyers. The millions of other women in our country are going to be just fine, thank you very much.
Amber Heard apparently never heard about The First Rule Of Holes, which states: “When you’re in one, stop digging.” What she should have done was to have shown some contrition. She should have displayed some sorrow over the demise of her marriage and the fact that it had to be dragged through the mud in such a public fashion. Amber Heard should have waited a few days after some self-reflection before trying the routine of, “This outcome harms all women.” There is perhaps no one in modern American culture phonier and more self-absorbed than Amber Heard, and she has yet to realize that perception. And for that reason, Amber Heard is a knucklehead.
Honorable Mention #1: President Biden lies again, claims to have been appointed to the Naval Academy while addressing graduates.
Getting into one of the service academies – West Point, Annapolis, or the Air Force Academy – isn’t like being accepted to other schools. You don’t just fill out an application, send in various test results and essays, and then hope for the best. In order to become a student at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, one has to be appointed by a member of Congress. It’s quite difficult to receive these appointments, as one might expect, and there is zero evidence that Joe Biden ever achieved such an accomplishment. But that didn’t stop him from saying this:
“I was appointed to the academy in 1965 by a senator who I was running against in 1972 — never planned it that way. I wasn’t old enough to be sworn in. I was only 29 years old when I was running. He was a fine man. His name is J. Caleb Boggs. I didn’t come to the academy because I wanted to be a football star. And you had a guy named [Roger] Staubach and [Joe] Bellino here. So, I went to Delaware.”
Aside from the fact that Roger Staubach played at Navy, and won the Heisman Trophy there, virtually nothing else Good Ole’ Joe said was true. The man is delusional, and it’s disturbing.
Honorable Mention #2: A man rapes a woman, but the BBC alters the pronouns in the content of the woman’s quotes because the rapist identifies as a woman.
This is the natural progression. When news outlets like the BBC buy into the left’s transgender insanity, they either have to continue to play along with the charade or come to terms with reality.
What the rape victim originally wrote in her testimony, and what the BBC originally reported, is as follows:
“He threatened to out me as a terf and risk my job if I refused to sleep with him,” she wrote. “I was too young to argue and had been brainwashed by queer theory so he was a ‘woman’ even if every fibre of my being was screaming throughout so I agreed to go home with him. He used physical force when I changed my mind upon seeing his penis and raped me.”
But when they found out that the rapist is a transgender woman, they changed the pronouns to they/their/them, as if there were multiple rapists. Are we to the point now that we are afraid of offending rapists? Apparently, if you work at the BBC, the answer is yes.
