More Details Drop about Trump’s Challenge to Woke Streaming Platforms

Former President Trump is trying to challenge the woke left’s domination of entertainment content, particularly streaming services, by coming out with his own. As the Daily Mail discovered and wrote about in a recent report:

Former President Donald Trump’s media company has begun hiring staff for its video streaming platform as it seeks to build a MAGA challenger to mainstream providers such as Netflix, Hulu and Disney+.

In recruitment adverts posted on Wednesday, the Trump Media and Technology Group announced it was seeking a content buyer and a development manager to create programming for its TMTG+ service.

The service is part of Trump’s attempt to build an alternative media ecosystem after being kicked off Facebook and YouTube in the wake of the January 6 violence last year.

Well, now more details about what that streaming service will actually be have emerged, with the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) filing, as the Epoch Times reports, a May 16th report claiming that the company will launch a streaming service called TMTG+. The platform will attempt to, as the Epoch Times reports, feature ‘“non-woke’ content, [aim] to “cancel ‘cancel culture,’” and [commit] to not censoring content creators for their political ideology.

The filing itself provides that:

TMTG believes that there is a need for quality programming that does not lecture its viewers or only presents one ‘acceptable’ approach on a topic. Entertainers, comedians, and creators have frequently been agents for change in our society. As the large media conglomerates become increasingly monolithic in their views, they cancel those who disagree, and voices are silenced

Further, the filing provides that the content on the streaming service will include “blue collar comedy, cancelled shows, Trump-specific programming, faith-based shows, family entertainment, shows that embrace the Second Amendment, and news.

The goal of TMTG+, according to the filing, is to “provide a platform for conservative and/or libertarian views, and otherwise cancelled content from other broadcast television and/or digital streaming platforms.”

And while that sounds like a dramatic expansion for the company that, as of now, has only rolled out Truth Social and seemingly struggled to do even that effectively, as shown by the long wait time required for many who wanted to use the product, it’s just the beginning for a company that, as the Epoch Times reports, plans on “becoming a “’fully integrated’ media and technology company’ to ‘rival the liberal media consortium and promote free expression on all issues’.”

Whether or not the venture will succeed is up in the air. While it’s a terrific idea and many conservatives are dying for an alternative to the woke Amazon and Netflix, it remains to be seen if TMTG can handle a project this large after struggling with the Truth rollout.

Still, Trump has a huge base of support and it’s an excellent idea, so there’s a real possibility that, even if the program hits challenges, it will eventually muddle through them and succeed thanks to the support of Trump’s fans and supporters.
