BREAKING: Team Brandon to Halt “Disinformation Governance Board” Rollout Over Free Speech Backlash

Well, free speech might have lived to fight another day, with the Biden Admin announcing that its rollout of the “Disinformation Governance Board” has been “paused” after just a few weeks of attempting to put a Harry Potter-erotica music singer in charge of “the truth” in America.

According to Fox News, the Department of Homeland Security has stopped the rollout of the Orwellian sounding board, or is at least putting the new board on hold, with Nina Jankowicz resigning.

That decision was apparently made this most recent Monday, with Nina having her letter of resignation the next morning.

However, Fox is also reporting that, while she had the letter drafted and ready to go, DHS is reportedly offering to let her stay aboard doing…something, even though DHS is axing the rollout of the anti-misinformation outlet. Perhaps she’ll just sit and watch “The Lives of Others” in preparation for some confluence of jobs leading the revival of the Ministry of Truth.

DHS, speaking to the Washington Post about the pause on the Ministry of Truth’s rollout and Nina’s resignation, told the paper that:

“Nina Jankowicz has been subjected to unjustified and vile personal attacks and physical threats. In congressional hearings and in media interviews, the Secretary has repeatedly defended her as eminently qualified and underscored the importance of the Department’s disinformation work, and he will continue to do so.”

On that note, it was apparently the massive public backlash about the agency that convinced the Department of Homeland Security to pause the program. Makorkas, the Secretary of DHS, admitted that DHS could and should “have done a better job of communicating what it is and what it isn’t.” Perhaps, as most Americans were convinced that it was meant to be the Ministry of Truth. Similarly, the Hill is reporting that:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will pause the work of a controversial board to coordinate efforts to battle disinformation, saying that while its work was “grossly and intentionally mischaracterized,” the “false attacks have become a significant distraction.”

The White House Deputy Press Secretary also spoke out about the issue, saying in a statement to Fox News that:

These smears levelled by bad-faith, rightwing actors against a deeply qualified expert and against efforts to better combat human smuggling and domestic terrorism are disgusting, and the administration has forcefully spoken out against them repeatedly.

“Neither Nina Jankowicz nor the board have anything to do with censorship or with removing content from anywhere. Their role is to ensure that national security officials are updated on how misinformation is affecting the threat environment. She has strong credentials and a history of calling out misinformation from both the left and the right.

Good one, White House! Fortunately, Americans easily see through such lies as that, just as they would have had Trump created a Ministry of Truth to crack down on CNN, so the public outcry was loud enough to get the White House to back off of its American Stasi plans…for now.
