Georgia Follows Florida’s Lead with Pro-Parent Legislation

Florida, despite being attacked near-constantly by woke companies like Disney for daring to stand up to the woke crazies and pass a parental rights bill that keeps radical teachings out of the classrooms for young kids, has stuck to its guns and pushed that legislation through.

And, though the crazies have lost it over the legislation, normal people are quite supportive of it. In fact, according to recent polling, In fact, the bill is so popular with parents that even Democrat primary voters support it!

Well, in a likely attempt to build a winning constituency as the gubernatorial primary kicks into high gear and the ramp-up period before his race against Stacey Abrams begins, Georgia’s governor, Brian Kemp, has pushed a similar bill through the Georgia legislature.

The bill describes what it does by saying:

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Part 5 of Article 16 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O.C.G.A., relating to review of removal of students in elementary and secondary education, so as to provide for the protection of the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their minor children from undue infringement by a state or local government entity, local board of education, or any officer, employee, or agent thereof; to provide for appeals; to provide for construction; to prohibit certain waivers; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

To accomplish those goals, the bill, which provides that “The General Assembly finds that it is a fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their minor children,” empowers parents and gives them the right to look into what their kids are learning.

In fact, under the bill’s provisions schools will now be required to show parents all the records relating to their children’s education upon request and review classroom materials, thus giving them the power to make sure teachers aren’t pushing woke nonsense on them. It also allows parents to remove their kids from discussion of sex, further protecting kids from having to sit and listen to woke sexual theory.

Governor Kemp, describing the bill back in February, said:

At a time when our nation is more divided than ever, we’re leading the fight to ensure parents do not have any barriers which prevent them from playing an active role in their child’s education.

“As the parents of three daughters, Marty and I know students do best when their parents have a seat at the table and their voices are heard and respected. This bill is the product of a months-long, information-gathering campaign which includes the input of superintendents, teachers, parents, and other education stakeholders. At its core, it is about transparency, access, and promoting an engaged partnership between the parent and educators to the ultimate benefit of the student.

Georgia and Florida have now taken dramatic steps to preserve a parental right that never should have been attacked in the first place. What other red states will follow suit and protect children from the predatory behavior of leftist teachers?
