Dantean Inferno: Panama City Descends into Chaos as Riotous Criminals Go Wild

Panama City Beach, Florida is a prime location for college kids, spring breakers that want to party and go wild for a few days. It’s gotten out of hand in past years, with arrests made and seeming riots reported, but this year things have gotten absolutely out of control.

Over the past weekend alone, police made over 160 arrests, locking up people in a vain attempt to stop the massive crowds of people that had descended on the area from causing any more damage or chaos.

Police Chief J.R. Talamantez, speaking on the incident, said:

What we saw this past weekend is absolutely unacceptable. Period.

“The crowd that has been here this weekend, there is [sic] no words that can describe the way they have behaved themselves, conducted themselves, and the amount of laws they have broken.

While much media attention has so far blamed “spring breakers” for the chaos and criminality, a bit of a closer look at the evidence shows that these weren’t normal college kids that were causing the problems.

It wasn’t fraternity guys from Alabama or sorority gals from South Carolina that were the ones rioting, but rather the sort of low-level criminals that we saw on TV sets and social media videos around the country during the George Floyd riots. Just watch:

Not exactly antics from your local SAE chapter…

Further, Fox reports that “officers seized 75 guns amid their clashes with these individuals.” Oh, and they looted a Walmart, or at least tried to. Reporting on that incident, WRIC said:

Police Chief J.R. Talamantez confirmed that the local Walmart was one of the businesses that opted to shut down early. Video taken from inside the store shows the aisles in disarray, with hats, sunscreen and other merchandise knocked off the shelves by rowdy shoppers.

The police and local government also noted that it was criminal elements, not college kids on spring break, that were turning the area into a scene out of Dante’s Inferno or any American city during the George Floyd riots. WRIC, reporting on that, notes:

The law enforcement spokespeople said Sunday they believed those detained and found with weapons weren’t representative of most spring break tourists, but rather were people taking advantage of the crowds to commit crimes.

“This was not spring breakers, so trust me when I tell you, this is just a bad element of people who did this,” said Mayor Mark Sheldon. “If you want to come here and be a bad person, you picked the wrong place. Panama City Beach is a family destination, and that’s not going to change.”

Panama City Beach has descended into a pit of chaos, or at least had as of this past weekend. While many are trying to place the blame on the shoulders of college kids down there for a bit of fun, the evidence obviously shows that it’s criminal elements, not fun-seeking spring breakers, that are are causing the problems.
