Russell Brand Describes How Media, Big Government, and Big Business are Oppressing Him and You [VIDEO]

Russell Brand, in a brilliant statement following a media blitz against him for his description of the vaccination situation, hit the media, Big Government, and Big Business hard for working together, saying:

The establishment and the mainstream media are coming for me and coming for this channel, saying I’m a conspiracy theorist, a right-wing nut, and an anti-vaxxer.”

“If you don’t think that I’m those things, and I don’t think that I’m those things, could there be any other reason why the mainstream media and establishment want to shut down open discourse and dissent?

Describing what statement of his led to such media outrage, Brand described his anti-Trudeau attack, saying:

“The initial articles have been provoked by video we did about Justin Trudeau, saying that his invocation of the emergency act and refusal to rescind it entirely in case of certain financial components against peaceful trucker protests smacks of the kind of authoritarianism that might diminish his right to overtly condemn anti-democratic actions elsewhere.”

Then, adding to that and characterizing his statements as a defense of rights, he said “We’ve been accused of being anti-vax, simply for saying unvaccinated people might have rights.”

It was then, after the background of the events, that Brand got to his best point, his description of how all the major players in the culture are aligned against those that dare to dissent. In his words:

The mainstream media is not your friend. The culture is not your friend. The government is not your friend. Big business is not your friend. They are operating collegiately, in unison, to create a set of systems that are beneficial to them, and disadvantage you.

Brand’s point, though well put and important for everyone to hear, isn’t novel. The idea of Big Government, Big Business, media, and other mainstream institutions is one that’s been circling around the right for some time, perhaps most famously described by Curtis Yarvin as the “Cathedral.” Describing that idea in a  Substack post, Yarvin said:

The mystery of the cathedral is that all the modern world’s legitimate and prestigious intellectual institutions, even though they have no central organizational connection, behave in many ways as if they were a single organizational structure.

Most notably, this pseudo-structure is synoptic: it has one clear doctrine or perspective. It always agrees with itself. Still more puzzlingly, its doctrine is not static; it evolves; this doctrine has a predictable direction of evolution, and the whole structure moves together.

The idea is a bit more complex than that, the Substack article goes into more depth on it, but that’s the basic premise: the institutions all swim together, and they tend to swim to the left.

What that means is that anyone who dissents, as Brand did, will face the fire of not just the media, not just the government, or not just censorious Big Businesses, but will face the combined fire of all those institutions. They’re all working together to shut up those who dare to dissent.
