Oof: Brian Stelter Humiliated in Hilarious DM Exchange

Reports are swirling that Brian Stelter, along with the other remnants of CNN’s “talent,” might soon be fired as the network is bought out and cleared out by Discovery. If those reports are to be believed, CNN’s new owners aren’t all too fond of having opinionated content than real journalism, particularly when the opinions are as bad as Stelter’s.

So, what’s Stelter doing to save his job at this moment of crisis for him and potential rebirth for CNN? He’s making any potential future firing all the easier by making a fool of himself on Twitter, angrily sliding into the DMs of those that dare to bring up his past statements.

Why? Because a Breitbart article called him out for calling the Hunter Biden laptop Russian propaganda. For reference, here’s a clip of him talking about Hunter Biden:

Well, Stelter got mad that Brietbart was calling him out, so he started direct messaging the Breitbart reporter involved in the story, asking, according to screenshots provided by Breitbart, “Hey, just curious, when did I claim ‘Hunter Biden’s laptop emails were likely Russian propaganda’? Can you send me the quote?”

At that point, the reporter involved, Wendell Husebo, responded hilariously, thanking Mr. Potatohead for reading Breitbart and asking if he’d like to stand by his claims or if he would recant. Husebo also sent Stelter this video compilation of him, Stelter, talking about the Hunter emails:

Stelter then refused to retract his statements and instead went on the counter-attack against Breitbart, accusing it of not sticking by its reporting and saying

“So… you clearly can’t back up your assertion that I claimed ‘Hunter Biden’s laptop emails were likely Russian propaganda’ — thanks for confirming that what you wrote is false.”

Husebo wasn’t willing to back down. He clarified that he was, in fact, standing by his reporting and then followed up with a litany of questions. As Breitbart reported on this incident:

In response to that, Breitbart News sent a series of further detailed questions to Stelter, including asking him if he is cooperating with the ongoing internal investigation at CNN in the wake of now-former network president Jeff Zucker’s resignation. Zucker recently resigned his position as president of CNN after he was questioned about his relationship with longtime CNN executive Allison Gollust as part of the broader Cuomo investigation, which showed that former Chris Cuomo had aided his brother, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as he navigated a sexual harassment scandal.

One of the best was ones was where he hit Stelter for his likely firing and erratic behavior, a behavior highlighted by his DM escapade. In that question, Husebo asked:

“Brian, for this story we’re working on about you we just spoke to a former CNN employee who told us your erratic behavior could be explained by your concern that you may be a target of or swept up by the internal investigation at the network led by the Cravath attorneys given your closeness to Jeff Zucker. Care to comment?”

Based on what has so far been reported, it doesn’t look like Mr. Potatohead cared (or dared?) to comment.
