Emma Watson’s ‘Sly Dig’ at J.K Rowling At BAFTA Awards As Transgender Spat Continues

Emma Watson appeared to make a sly dig at Harry Potter author J.K Rowling as she gave a short speech on stage at the BAFTA Film Awards last Sunday.

After being introduced by Rebel Wilson, Watson, 31, took to the BAFTA stage to present the Best Outstanding British Film award. Watson is best known for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series.

“Here to present the next award is Emma Watson. She calls herself a feminist, but we all know she’s a witch,” quipped Rebel.

Wearing a sleek black dress with a white tutu-style bottom, Watson, upon taking the stage said: “I’m here for *all* the witches, by the way”, as she performed a knowing squint and flashed a sly smile at the audience – some of whom whooped in support.

Her comments come after a long spat between the Harry Potter cast and the book’s author J.K Rowling as the young actors became upset that Rowling had vented her anger in a Tweet about women being referred to as “people who menstruate”.

In the Tweet, posted on June 6 2020, Rowling said: “People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”.

In a later Tweet, Rowling expressed more well-articulated opinions, arguing that it wasn’t hateful to speak the truth about the existence of biological gender:

If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth,” she reasoned.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was the first of the Potter clan to lash out at Rowling’s words. He released a formal statement about the Tweets that same month, in which he insisted: “trans women are women”. He went on to apologize for any “pain” caused and concluded: “I hope that these comments will not taint that [the Harry Potter stories] too much.”

Watson was soon to jump on the bandwagon, Tweeting:

“Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are”.

Since then, Rowling has come under constant bombardment for utilizing her right to express her opinion – which is the undeniable fact that there are biologically two genders and that it is impossible to change biology with cosmetic procedures.

Before Watson took to the state at the BAFTAs, host Rebel Wilson took her turn in joining in the bullying. Talking about a photograph of herself taken in 2020, she made the snide comment:

“That was me two years ago and since then I’ve done quite a transformation – I hope JK Rowling still approves.”

Viewers took to Twitter to express their disgust at the ‘woke mob’  attacks on Rowling, whose Harry Potter franchise helped to make Watson a millionaire worth $85m.

“She should count her lucky stars JK Rowling stuck with her. She owes her a heck of a lot, she needs to stop biting the hand that feeds”, Tweeted one viewer.

“Emma Watson, a woman, the feminist that can’t define what a woman is? The one that is famous because of JK?”  said another.

While the woke mob may argue they aren’t physically stopping Rowling from voicing her views, the constant public bullying and berating has effectively ‘cancelled’ Rowling.

As is usually the way with the radical left – you can have any view, as long as its theirs.
