A ‘Defund The Police’ activist once honored by Barack Obama has been released on bail by BLM for $100,000, after allegedly attempting to murder a Jewish politician.
Quintez Brown, 21, stormed into the politician’s campaign headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday and opened fire on Craig Greenberg.
The mayoral candidate luckily escaped the horrific incident without serious injury, although a bullet grazed his body.
This comes a few months after British Conservative politician David Amass was stabbed to death by a terrorist during a constituency meeting.
Brown was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, but spent less than 48 hours in jail before left-wing activist group BLM bailed him out. BLM’s Louisville Community Jail Fund paid the $100,000 cash bond to ensure the shooter’s immediate release.
Brown’s friends, family and attorney insist the attack was not motivated by anti-Semitism. His lawyer, Rob Eggert, said he was suffering a “metal health breakdown” and had not slept “for days or weeks”.
Mr. Greenberg, a Democratic politician, had been holding a meeting with four staff members at the time of the attack. It was reported that Brown fired several rounds, pointing a pistol directly at him. The shooter was arrested and the weapon and ammunition were recovered near the crime scene.
Although he was fortunately not injured, Mr. Greenberg said Brown’s release had left him “traumatized again” and he found it “nearly impossible to believe that someone can attempt murder on Monday and walk out of jail on Wednesday.
“If someone is struggling with a mental illness and is in custody, they should be evaluated and treated in custody.”
Despite the severity of the situation, a spokesperson for the Louisville Community Jail Fund – which is a group closely associated with Black Lives Matter – defended the decision to bail Brown out, stating that they were concerned for his well-being in custody.
Speaking to the Louisville Courier-Journal, for which Brown was a former columnist, Chanelle Helm said: “Jail is a final destination for black folks in this state.
“Jail and prisons do not rehabilitate people. The community’s been doing that”.
Brown had close ties to the hard-left BLM group, having participated in the 2020 protests following the killing of Breonna Taylor, a black woman shot by cops.
He was also invited to meet former President Barack Obama, ironically as a commemoration for his work in youth violence prevention training.
The release of a shooter a couple of days after an alleged assassination attempt has united Republican and Democrat politicians in their disgust at the appalling failings in the criminal justice system.
Kentucky Republican Senator Mitch McConnell criticized the travesty:
“Less than 48 hours after this activist tries to literally murder a politician, the radical left bailed their comrade out of jail.”
Twitter users expressed their dismay, with some drawing the candid compassion between the release of an alleged would-be assassin following a large sum gifted by the hard-left, with the freezing of funds by the Canadian government for peaceful Freedom Convoy protesters.
So let me get this straight a BLM activist tried to kill a Jewish candidate for mayor of Louisville — literally shot at him with a gun — & his bail, which was only $100k, was paid by crowdfunding. But Canadian truckers aren’t allowed to use crowd funding for their protest?
