Hilarious: GOP Lawmakers Introduce “Hunter Act” to Fight Crack Pipe Distribution

The internet was outraged last week when details leaked out that the Biden Administration was planning on distributing “safe smoking kits,” to crack addicts. Those kits, at least according to what information was available before the outrage, included free crack pipes for addicts.

After the story broke, Jen Psaki denied it and Snopes labeled the story outdated, as the kits now no longer include free crack pipes. In Snopes’ words on the subject:

the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Feb. 9 provided Snopes a statement which stipulated that federal funding would not be used to include pipes in smoking kits as part of the harm reduction plan. As a result, the accurate component of early news reports — that safe smoking kits typically contain glass pipes — was no longer applicable, and that initial wave of outrage was rendered outdated.

In any case, it was initially accurate to say that the kits contained crack pipes for addicts, something that many Americans don’t want to see their tax dollars going toward funding.

For that reason, Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado and Dan Bishop of North Carolina told Fox News that they’re releasing a bill to prevent the feds from funding crack pipe distribution in the future.

The bill is called the “Halting the Use of Narcotics Through Effective Recovery Act,” the acronym for which is HUNTER, a reference to the president’s son’s former crack addiction, on that he admitted to and was evident from the photos on his laptop. The bill, meant to stop the feds from spending money on crack pipes, says:

(a) IN GENERAL.—No Federal funds, including funds appropriated by section 2706 of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (42 U.S.C. 290dd–3 note), may be used for the purchase, or to support the purchase by any recipient of Federal assistance, of any drug paraphernalia.

(b) DEFINITION.—In this section, the term ‘‘drug paraphernalia’’— (1) has the definition given to that term in section 863 of title 18, United States Code; and (2) includes, to the extent covered by such definition, crack pipes, harm reduction vending machines, syringes, and safe smoking kits and supplies.

Rep. Boebert, speaking on the bill in an interview, said:

I like the HUNTER Ac because it was a better acronym than Stop Paying to Subsidize Biden’s Son’s Drug Addiction act. That didn’t really flow. I think tax dollars have been on the hook for Hunter’s addictions long enough.

Additionally, speaking to Fox about why she released the bill, Boebert told Fox “Congressman Bishop and I are standing up and saying, heck no. Our tax dollars should not be funding the death and destruction of crack addicts. Democrats are always putting the American taxpayer last and Republicans just want to give people in need a good job. Democrats want to give them crack pipes.”

Rep. Boebert is right: why should Americans have to pay to subsidize the addictions of others? Thanks to Bidenflation, goods are already expensive and the leviathan already sucks up a huge percentage of the average American’s income in taxes; why should we then have to fund crack addictions?
