Watch: RINO McConnell Stands By Liz Cheney, Smears Jan. 6th Protesters

At a time when Biden should be on the retreat and Republicans should be attacking, attacking,  and attacking to push him farther into the corner, what is Senate Minority Leader McConnell doing?

Backing the most notorious RINO in the House and smearing the January 6th political prisoners, that’s what!  Watch him here:

As you can hear in the video, McConnell begins by smearing the January 6th political prisoners, declaring that:

We all were here. We saw what happened. It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election, from one administration to the next. That’s what it was.

Sure, a few unarmed people wandering around the Capitol and taking selfies while staying between the trunnions are launching a “violent insurrection”. Never mind that the only person shot was an unarmed protester, Mitch thinks that their wandering around was basically the storming of the Bastille!

Then, he turns to the next leftist talking point he decided to champion: that RINOs Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are right for collaborating with the radical left by joining the January 6th Star Chamber.

Defending the Democrat Duo after the RNC approved a resolution condemning them for “participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse”, McConnell said:

The issue is whether or not the RNC should be, sort of, singling out members of our party who may have different views from the majority. That’s not the job of the RNC.”

If it’s not the job of the party to slap those representatives that go way out of line and side with the other party to attack the base, whose job is it? Perhaps the house leader and whip should have done something, but the party clearly has a role to play in keeping its members united and focused on winning and advancing a certain set of values.

Fortunately, while McConnell is a weak-spined RINO and is defending Cheney, the Congressional leadership doesn’t necessarily stand with him. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, for example, supported the RNC’s move, saying, “This is a pure political committee. I think those two individuals would have a hard time ever coming back to Congress.

Indeed, especially in the case of Cheney, who is seriously struggling against her MAGA-focused primary challenger right now and doesn’t look to have a hope of winning her 2022 election.

Yet, while Cheney might soon be gone and the House GOP at least has a leader with a touch of a spine, McConnell will be in office for awhile longer and likely hopes to reclaim his Senate Majority Leader position after the red wave.

His comments show why that can’t happen. He supports RINOs and turns his back on the MAGA base, the exact opposite of what he should be doing. The GOP needs leaders that can lead the party to legislative and culture war victory when in power, not compromise and condemn their own base.
