Democrats and CDC Finally Admit Natural Immunity Should Not Be Ignored

Democrats and the CDC have been hush-hush when it comes to talking about natural immunity since the start of the pandemic. Democrats and the CDC have both pushed the idea that Covid-19 vaccines are the only way to prevent the spread of Covid-19, but now both groups are walking back their previous statements regarding natural immunity and instead welcoming the idea that natural immunity is helping lower the curve of Covid-19 cases.

Representative Ted Lieu of California recently stated in a tweet:

“With the rapid decline of Omicron, pandemic restrictions will be lifted sooner rather than later. In considering when to do so, health officials must factor in natural immunity, not just vaccination rates. This CDC chart recognizes natural immunity and so should health officials.”

Rep. Lieu then attached a graph to his tweet which showed the comparisons between unvaccinated people who have previously contracted Covid-19 and those who have yet to contract Covid-19. The results on the graph clearly showed that those who already had natural immunity had a very low chance of contracting Covid-19 again.

Lieu previously mocked Republican Senator of Wisconsin Ron Johnson, who stated, “Why do we think we can create something better than God?” Senator Johnson was referring to people’s natural immunity being better than any kind of modern vaccine, but Lieu wanting to mock anyone who believes in healing outside of big pharmaceutical companies took a jab at Johnson and said when humans created the “oven” and “polio vaccines” they did make something better than God.

The CDC, which has been relatively quiet regarding natural immunity the last two years, has started to speak out more on the topic of natural immunity. So far, there have been over 65 million Americans who have recovered from Covid-19 and have obtained natural immunity. According to a new CDC report, those who have obtained natural immunity are more protective than those who are vaccinated.

Yes, you read that last statement correctly. According to the new CDC report conducted by scientists comparing the risks of the Delta variant amongst vaccinated people and those who have had previous cases of Covid-19, those who had previously contracted Covid-19 were more protected against the Delta variant than those who were just vaccinated.

The Hill had these details on the CDC’s new report:

In the CDC report, which analyzed COVID-19 cases in California and New York in 2021 from May 30 to November 20, the scientists compared the risk of new SARS-CoV-2 infection among four groups of people: those who were unvaccinated without a prior case of COVID-19; those vaccinated without prior COVID-19; those unvaccinated with prior COVID-19 and those vaccinated with prior COVID-19.

The authors explain that before the emergence of the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, recent vaccination was more protective against new infection than natural immunity (in California during June, for example, 20.9-fold vs 8.2-fold). However, after delta became prevalent, natural immunity was more protective against infection than vaccination.

The CDC’s new report isn’t the first time scientist have discovered that natural immunity is better than vaccines when it comes to fighting off Covid-19 variants. A study performed by researchers in Israel last year discovered that those who have obtained natural immunity are 27 times more protected than those who have not contracted Covid-19 and have just been vaccinated.
