Payback: Jim Jordan is Coming for GoFundMe

GoFundMe, the leftist organization that it is, decided to cancel the fund created for the Canadian truckers, a fund which had raised almost $10 million to help the truckers continue their protest against the corrupt, tyrannical government in Ottawa for however long was necessary. Posting on Medium, it announced that the fund would be canceled and that those funds collected wouldn’t be refunded, but would rather be send to other charities, saying (emphasis theirs):

To ensure GoFundMe remains a trusted platform, we work with local authorities to ensure we have a detailed, factual understanding of events taking place on the ground. Following a review of relevant facts and multiple discussions with local law enforcement and city officials, this fundraiser is now in violation of our Terms of Service (Term 8, which prohibits the promotion of violence and harassment) and has been removed from the platform.

Organizers provided a clear distribution plan for the initial $1M that was released earlier this week and confirmed funds would be used only for participants who traveled to Ottawa to participate in a peaceful protest. Given how this situation has evolved, no further funds will be directly distributed to the Freedom Convoy organizers — we will work with organizers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities chosen by the Freedom Convoy 2022 organizers and verified by GoFundMe.

Though it later reversed that in part and made refunds automatic, the truckers lost access to millions of dollars with which they could have continued their peaceful protest. Fortunately, they were able to find another way to fundraise, using a different platform, GiveSendGo, that actually cares about freedom of speech.

Well, while the truckers were able to move on, Rep. Jim Jordan decided not to; he’s going to go after GoFundMe and announced as much on Twitter, saying “GoFundMe promoted the ANTIFA-occupied CHOP zone in Seattle. But they shut down fundraisers for truckers protesting #COVID mandates. We’ve got questions.

That’s a major shot across the bow of GoFundMe; the GOP is about to regain power in 2022, at least on the legislative front, and could start dragging the GoFundMe team before it in hearing after hearing, preparing to take major action after recapturing the presidency in 2024.

And Rep. Jordan isn’t the only one. Governor DeSantis said that he will go after GoFundMe for its treachery too, posting on Twitter that he would go after GoFundMe if it didn’t issue donations, as the initial statement given by the company made it sound.

Though the automatic refund makes that particular point a non-issue, it’s obvious that DeSantis is chomping at the bit to go after them and he could very well partner with other red states and a conservative Congress to bring the company to account.

Further, beyond whatever action is taken, Jordan makes a point that we can’t soon forget: these companies are all leaning far, far to the left and are funding radical leftist action while crushing conservatives. That can’t be disputed any longer, nor can we ignore it.

It’s time to wake up and realize that; most corporations are not on our side, or even benign. They’re full of radical leftists that hate us.
