It was widely rumored that Nasty Nancy was planning on retiring before the 2022 race begins.
Between the utter unpopularity of Democrats right now thanks to Joe Biden’s disastrous policies, reports of the millions her family has made in suspicious-looking stock trades, and the fact that she pledged to only stick around for two terms, people thought she was ready to leave.
Apparently not, she’s running again and, because it’s California, she’ll probably win. This isn’t Crocodile Tears Chuck’s reelection year, so he’ll be in office too.
As such, the two are probably hoping to remain in leadership positions after the 2022 elections end and the next Congress begins.
Even if they have to transition from being majority leaders to minority leaders, it’s almost certain that the two of them want to remain in charge.
The problem is, both are highly unpopular within the Beltway, with about 80% of Democrat Congressional staffers wanting them out of their leadership positions.
According to a recent poll from Punchbowl News, a poll which anonymously polled senior Democratic staffers to see what they thought about the direction of Democrat leadership and where it should head, a massive 62 percent of Democratic staffers think that Nasty Nancy, Crocodile Tears Chuck, and the rest of the Democrat leadership should be replaced no matter how the midterms go.
Yet worse for the corrupt, much-disliked duo, only 20% of those staffers think that Pelosi and Schumer should stay in their leadership rolls no matter what after midterms and only a vanishingly small 17% are of the opinion that the party leadership should only be switched out if the Democrats do poorly in the midterms.
Given that it looks like a massive red wave will swamp the Swamp in 2022, that means those 17% of staffers can be added to the 62% that think the duo need to be kicked out of leadership regardless.
As a result, 80% think that Pelosi and Schumer need to go, or at least think so unless they manage to pull a massive victory out of the jaws of defeat.
That’s bad news for the two, very bad news.
Yet worse, it’s not an aberration. An Economist/YouGov poll from earlier in the month found that many Democrats were of the opinion that Nancy needs to go when asked “Do you think Nancy Pelosi should remain as the leader of the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives or do you think it should be some other Democrat?”
In fact, according to that poll, while only 47% said that Pelosi needs to go regardless of the circumstances, only 20%, the same number as in the Punchbowl survey, think that she should stay in leadership.
So, Pelosi’s popularity hasn’t gone up in recent days and, among Democrats undecided on her, her unpopularity might have even increased.
Perhaps Nancy needs to rethink that decision to run again; wouldn’t retiring to one of her many magnificent properties be far nicer than facing the contempt of her colleagues and the humiliation of being kicked out of party leadership?
