Neil Young Demands Spotify Censor Rogan Or Else!

These days it’s getting harder and harder to accept the reality that we live in. In a world where being a rock star once meant being a rebel, it’s hard to swallow these conformist ideologies being spewed like bile at their fans. Though, to be fair, Neil Young’s fans probably aren’t that far from the grave themselves, whereas Joe Rogan’s listeners are anywhere from half his age to more than double it.

Neil Young has always been a vocal and political voice in music. There’s literally a Lynard Skynyrd song called “Sweet Home Alabama” telling Neil Young that “A Southern man don’t need him around anyhow“. Bashing on America is something the Canadian is well known for, so it should come as no surprise that he takes issue with Joe Rogan daring to utilize his protected right to free speech in the form of podcasting. The Canadian “rocker” likely felt he wasn’t straying from his lane because Joe Rogan announced an up-and-coming episode where he and Dr. Jordan Peterson (also Canadian) had a four-and-a-half-hour conversation.

This was apparently going too far for the 76-year-old musician. He wrote a scathing letter to Spotify in which he demanded that the music giant choose between his music and Joe Rogan’s podcasts. The letter has since been removed, likely because it has no chance of beating a podcaster who signed an exclusive $100 million deal with Spotify.

According to Rolling Stone, who made sure to quote it before it was removed, the letter had a lot to say.

“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” he wrote. “Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.”

“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” he continued. “They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both.”

Now, there is a small movement on Twitter asking people to stand behind Young and add their own music to the blackmail attempt in removing Joe Rogan from Spotify. That’s also likely to fail because, as many companies are finally figuring out, boycotts are often perpetuated by people who never shopped or purchased from you to begin with.

Back in 2020, Trader Joe’s made it clear that they would not change the names of their products to suit Cancel Culture because most of the people telling them to change their names had never been customers in the first place. You can’t miss what you never had.

There’s also been a shift as more information and studies continue to make headlines about what we didn’t know then and what we do know now regarding COVID-19. Even Leftists like Bill Maher and fellow panelists are sick and tired of all the mass hysteria being spread by those who wish to remain in power.

The video below is a piece from Real Time with Bill Maher and his guest Bari Weiss. Clay Travis, who posted the video, makes an excellent point about the liberal audience. It’s time for this to come to an end, and maybe, just maybe, Neil Young took down that letter because the COVID-19 hill is not the one he wants to die on. Especially as more and more people flock to outspoken thinkers like Joe Rogan.

People are allowed to think for themselves and more importantly, they’re allowed to question what’s going on around them. Love him or hate him, Joe Rogan is not an expert. He’s just not, and he’ll tell you that. He makes no bones about calling himself a moron. Yet, he is curious and he is open to having conversations with people who are experts in their fields.

He is willing to ask who, what, where, when, why, and how. It’s the real reason why he has over 11 million people listening to each episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

The best thing about Joe Rogan is that when he’s wrong, he’ll admit it and then he’ll go back and research it and get the correct information. He’s never been above admitting he messed up.

Getting back to the Neil Young thing, here are several reactions to his attempt to blackmail Spotify into censoring free speech.

Even left leaning comedic late night show decided to drop a bomb on Young!
