Former NFL player turned Army Vet, Jack Bequette, has found God’s new calling for his life and has just launched a bid for Arkansas’ Senate seat currently held by Republican Senator John Boozman. Bequette, 32, was a third-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2012. Bequette went on to play a total of 8 games between 2012-2013 but was later cut from the team. He would later sign with the Patriots practice squad and was rewarded with a Super Bowl ring with New England Patriots in 2014 for being part of the team.

In 2015, Bequette’s football career was coming to an end, and he ended up trading his cleats for some combat boots and joined the United States Army in 2017. Bequette became a Ranger infantry officer in the 101st Airborne Division and was deployed to Iraq in 2019.  As he saw the Nation’s moral values at an all-time low, Bequette said enough is enough and decided to run for Arkansas’ Senate Race.

In an exclusive interview with Faith Wire Bequette stated:

“I think people around the country, they’re craving a return to the faith-based values this country was founded upon,” Bequette said. “Our founders spoke about it, they wrote about it extensively, they fought over it and I think … people of faith and even people who, you know, might have lapsed faith or people who have gotten away from the churches … they still feel that longing.”

“You’ve got to be standing on the rock because you know you’re going to be attacked,” he said. “I feel called to be in this race. … Part of being in this race … is being obedient to God’s calling and God’s plan for my life.”

Bequette gives credit to his family for raising him to fear the Lord. He also gives credit to his football coaches for instilling in him leadership characteristics that will help him in Washington. Instead of getting involved in the he said she said politics, Bequette plans to instill faith back in Congress and let the United States truly be one nation under God once again.

It’s truly inspiring to hear about Bequette’s journey and where following God has taken him through life. Following Jesus will take you to places that you’ll never think you’ll be.  Children are taught at a young age to “follow their dreams”, but what they should be taught is to follow their calling from God.

God has put you on this earth for a specific reason and he has a mission designed specifically for you.

Jeremiah 29:11 says:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

We must follow Jesus where he leads. If you’re not sure if you’re walking in God’s calling for your life, ask Him. Simply get quiet before the Lord, and ask Him, “Jesus I don’t want to do my own will but rather let Your will be done in my life” and watch God do great and mighty things in your life.
