Leftist Congresswoman Tries to Strip Rep. Boebert of Committee Assignments

One common refrain about Trump is that he lives rent-free in the mind of every leftist. His controversial style, unapologetic nature, and refusal to back down on any issue mean they just can’t let him go.

While that remains true of Trump, it’s increasingly becoming just as true about Rep. Lauren Boebert, a conservative firebrand that the left won’t stop attacking after she made a joke about Rep. Omar.

Now, after savaging Boebert on talk shows and op-eds despite her good faith attempt to apologize, the left is trying to kick her out of her committee assignments.

Specifically, Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley is leading the charge and introducing a resolution to strip Rep. Boebert of her committee assignments and force Democrat leadership to take action against the conservative firebrand. As Just the News reports:

The resolution, which has been cosigned by four other progressives, will get a vote only if approved by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat.

Democratic leaders are reportedly wary of punishing GOP members each time they do something disagreeable. Boebert made the comments in a video made public over Thanksgiving weekend.

The bill has been cosigned by Reps. Cori Bush, Judy Chu, Chuy García, Jimmy Gomez, Pramila Jayapal, Barbara Lee, David Cicilline, and Rashida Tlaib. Additionally, Axios reports that “Dozens of House progressives have publicly called for Boebert to lose her committee seats.”

Democrats have already stripped Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments and Rep. Gosar of his.

However, it’s unclear if Democrat leadership will take action in this case, as Boebert didn’t threaten violence and was simply making a joke. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, for example, told Axios that ” he has “no idea’ if the House will end up taking action against Boebert.”

Rep. Omar, however, insists that there will, and should, be action taken against Boebert. Talking to CNN’s Jake Tapper, she said “I have had a conversation with the speaker, and I’m very confident that she will take decisive action next week.
