“This Administration is Destroying America”: Trump Slams Biden Jobs Report

President Trump, a self-declared “counter-puncher,” has never been one to pull punches and it doesn’t look like he’s going to start now. In a recent statement from the president, released by his Save America PAC, Trump slammed Viden for the disastrous November jobs report.

America fell 340,000 jobs short of the very modest expectations set by economists,” it reads, “That’s because Joe Biden is a one trick pony, ‘Get the vaccine.’”

Trump then slams the 2020 election and Biden’s disastrous policy decisions, at one point saying that “This administration is destroying America before our very eyes because there is no leadership.” Read the entire statement here:

The 340,000 number to which Trump refers comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report for November, which found that rather than adding the 550,000 jobs that were expected in November, the US economy added only 210,000 jobs. Here’s the exact language from the report:

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 210,000 in November, and the unemployment rate fell by 0.4 percentage point to 4.2 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Notable job gains occurred in professional and business services, transportation and warehousing, construction, and manufacturing. Employment in retail trade declined over the month.

That 0.4% reduction in unemployment represents a 542,000 reduction in unemployed persons. However, unemployment is still above pre-Covid levels.

Putting the 210,000 jobs gain in context, the report has this to say:

Thus far this year, monthly job growth has averaged 555,000. Nonfarm employment has increased by 18.5 million since April 2020 but is down by 3.9 million, or 2.6 percent, from its pre-pandemic level in February 2020. In November, notable job gains occurred in professional and business services, transportation and warehousing, construction, and manufacturing. Employment in retail trade declined over the month.

So, though some jobs were added to the economy, the number fell far below both what economists expected and what the monthly average for this year has been. That’s yet more bad news for the Biden Administration.
