The Epoch Times reports that “After the Biden administration quietly enacted a new vaccine mandate, two American families have become stranded in Bulgaria with their newly adopted children.”
For reference, the CDC provides that legal immigrants, whether they’re coming to America as refugees or normal immigrants, must be vaccinated before travelling to the US. Specifically, they are required to undergo a thorough medical examination and, according to the CDC, “if an approved COVID-19 vaccine is available to the applicant in the country where the examination occurs, the applicant must complete the vaccine series.”
Such a policy has a human cost. The Epoch Times reports that Katie and Joe Harman underwent a two-year, incredibly thorough process before being allowed to adopt a young Bulgarian girl named Elizabeth. After keeping in touch with Elizabeth over video calls for two years, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Justice approved their adoption of Elizabeth and issued her a new birth certificate, thus making her the Hermans’ legal daughter. But, thanks to Joe’s vaccine mandate for immigrants, the Hermans cannot return to America with their new daughter.
As the Epoch Times reports, “Just two hours before their plane was to take off to Bulgaria, they were informed by their adoption agency that the Biden administration implemented a new immigration policy. It requires children over the age of 12, legally immigrating to the United States, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before they will be allowed to enter the country.”
The problem is aggravated not only by Elizabeth’s limited knowledge of English, but also by the fact that the mandate requires two shots of the Pfizer vaccine, which must be received three weeks apart.
The Epoch Times also reports that “Now, the thousands spent on two return plane tickets for Joe and Katie and the one-way ticket for Elizabeth have been wasted. Rather than heading back to the United States as planned, they will have to pay hundreds more per night to continue staying at a hotel for the additional three weeks. They will also have to spend thousands more on new plane tickets.”
So, in other words, the Hermans are being financially squeezed for attempting to adopt a young woman and bring her back to America.
And the Hermans aren’t the only Americans stuck in Bulgaria thanks to Biden’s mandate.
The Epoch Times reports that Amy and Stefan Dobrikov, both from Florida, “arrived in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Oct. 13 to finalize the adoption of two siblings, 10-year-old Alana and 12-year-old Asher. Immediately upon arrival, they were informed of the Biden administration’s new vaccine mandate by their adoption agency.” They were given no prior warning and are now stuck abroad, unable to return to America with the young children they adopted.
Their purgatory abroad comes as the Biden Administration has let hundreds of thousands of unvaccinated individuals enter the nation in recent months, both legally and illegally.
For example, after the Afghanistan disaster, Biden imported many thousands of Afghan refugees that had not received the vaccine. Similarly, his border policies have allowed over a million unvaccinated illegal immigrants to rush across the border. As Brandon Judd told Fox News, “I can personally tell you again that when they come in our custody, we don’t test them for COVID. We don’t vaccinate them. We just release them into the United States. And so, he’s requiring United States citizens to get vaccinated. But those people that are entering our country illegally, they don’t have to get vaccinated. They’re able to spread that disease throughout the United States. Again, the hypocrisy knows no end with this administration.”
While unvaccinated foreigners about whom we know next to nothing flood across the border and into the heartland, at least two American families are stuck in Bulgaria, forced to burn through their savings while waiting for their children to get the vaccine, all thanks to President Biden.
